Our Practices
There are many practices that are key to growing high quality timber plantations. Some are traditional practices such as controlled burns and integrating cattle for vegetation management yet AGSTA also incorporates new technologies for recording and managing wildlife levels across the estate. Using both new and old techniques to manage and care for the land is key in forestry.
Controlled Burning
Controlled burning is a key element to hazard reduction in forestry. Controlled burns look different due to varying conditions such as environment, weather, plantation type, plantation age and more. AGSTA have been using controlled burning for 20 years and are continually refining our technique over time for the most effective results and the safest working environment.

Silvopasture
Integrating cattle for vegetation management is a key ingredient for sustainable forestry management. It is a viable alternative to manually spraying chemicals on weeds and the long, time-consuming follow up required to completely remove it.
